SpiceJet to induct widebody Airbus A340 as part of fleet expansion

SpiceJet has signed a lease agreement to bring a widebody Airbus A340 aircraft into its fleet. The aircraft is expected to arrive in India by the end of September, with operations planned to begin in the first week of October. The addition of the A340 is part of SpiceJet’s ongoing effort to increase capacity and expand its network.

Initially, the Airbus A340 will be operated under a wet lease arrangement, which includes crew, maintenance, and insurance. The airline plans to later move to a damp lease model, which provides more operational flexibility while allowing it to manage certain aspects of the aircraft’s operation.
