South Western Railway collects Rs 90 crore from ticket cancellations in 5 years

Bengaluru: Change in travel plans of people has turned into a boon for Indian railways as ticket cancellations has led to increase in revenue collection. South Western Railway (SWR) earned Rs 90.4 crore from ticket cancellations, or clerkage charges over the past five years, across its Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru divisions.

As per the revenue collected in the calendar year, cancellation revenue plunged to just Rs 3.2 lakh in 2021 as Covid-related travel restrictions affected train services and travel demand.
