Soon Mumbai to get more green power to meet peak electricity demand

Mumbai: Tata Power entered into multiple power purchase agreements (PPAs) in the past couple of weeks to bring renewable energy to Mumbai and ensure that peak power demand from city consumers, especially in the hot and sultry weather, is catered to, announced a senior official on Sunday. Tata Power has nearly 800,000 electricity consumers in the island city and suburbs.

The peak power demand for Tata Power touched 1,000 MW on October 17 and has been almost the same in the past few days due to the rise in day temperature and increasing demand from electricity users.
