Seven energy theft cases in Kanchi

Chennai: Tangedco’s enforcement wing has detected seven incidents of energy thefts and collected a fine of `31,000.

During the division-level mass raids, the enforcement squads detected seven theft of energy cases at Kanchipuram North division. An extra levy amount of `7 lakh was levied on the consumers

towards the loss incurred by the discom due to the stolen energy. The consumers concerned admitted the offence and chose to compound the case and remitted a sum of `31,000 to avoid criminal proceedings.
