Second Bengaluru airport plan sits on long runway as Airports Authority flags hurdles

Bengaluru: After the Karnataka govt identified three possible sites for the city’s planned second international airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has, in its inspection report, flagged several concerns on each site. In fact, far from recommending a definitive location, AAI has raised more questions than answers.

The expert team surveyed the three locations in April 2025: two near Harohalli (Chudahalli and Somanahalli) off Kanakapura Road and one near Nelamangala on Kunigal Road.
