SC seeks response from IndiGo’s parent company in Customs IGST dispute

The Supreme Court on Monday sought response from InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of the country’s largest airline IndiGo, on the customs department’s appeal challenging a Delhi High Court’s decision that declared as unconstitutional the levy of Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) on reimported aircraft engines and aircraft parts that were repaired and serviced abroad.

The HC had in March quashed a part of the government’s 2021 notification that sought to impose IGST on such reimport, giving a big relief to the aviation sector.
