Redressal forums of power consumers lack representatives

Chennai: From voltage fluctuations and prolonged power cuts to discrepancies in power bills and major disputes, including the shifting of transformers – consumers are not able to get a proper solution to their woes as the consumer grievance redressal forums (CGRF) are running without proper public representation.
The Electricity Act mandates the formation of CGRFs, and their functions are governed by TNERC regulations. Any grievance petition should be heard by the chairman and 2 members – one an advocate and the other with technical knowledge about electricity-before it is disposed off.
