Pune Metro sees over 2.5 lakh commuters, Rs 35 lakh in revenue in nine days
Launched only nine days back, Pune Metro rail has become a centre of attraction for the residents as over 2.5 lakh of them have already availed of the service, fetching Rs 35 lakh in revenue, according to officials.
Pune Metro rail was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 6 and the service was thrown open to public in the afternoon.
Presently, Metro rail runs on two stretches – from Garware college to Vanaz (5 km) and PCMC to Phugewadi (7 km); both the stretches have five stations each. Everyday, the Metro rail undertakes 27 rides in each direction of both the stretches at a gap of every half-an-hour. The first train sets out at 8 am while the last trip begins at 9 pm.
