Power outage major issue during heavy downpour across Mumbai Metropolitan Region

Mumbai: Relentless rainfall for the past two days has severely impacted the power distribution system in Kalyan, Vasai, and Virar areas. As a result, power supply to 2.5 lakh electricity consumers in these areas has been shut down as a precautionary measure.

In Mumbai, power outages were witnessed amid the heavy rainfall on Tuesday, especially in the suburbs. Kurla, for one, was majorly impacted with two substations of Adani Electricity shut down and affecting 1000 families. Other areas facing power cuts were parts of Andheri, Jogeshwari, Kandivli, Ghatkopar, Vile Parle and Mira Road among other places. BEST had witnessed power cuts in parts of Sion and Mahalaxmi a day earlier.
