Petrol pump asked to pay Rs 50K compensation

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Sundargarh-II, Rourkela, directed the manager of a petrol pump to compensate a consumer for cheating and harassing him while he had gone to fill diesel in his truck five years ago and made the payment through swapping his card on point of sale (POS) machine.

Pancham Sinha, a resident of Jalda under the Raghunathpalli police station, had filled diesel in his truck on 17.02.2018 at Fetcol Petrol Pump (Indian Oil) at Jalda and swiped his card before the manager of the Petrol Pump. An amount of Rs 8,443 was deducted from his account but the manager of the petrol pump denied having received the payment despite Sinha showing him the receipt.
