Petrol prices in Telangana soar 23% in five years, among highest in country

Hyderabad: Petrol prices in Telangana have surged by more than 23% over the past five years, outpacing the rise in metros like Delhi and Mumbai by nearly 10%, even after central excise duty cuts.
As per data tabled in the Lok Sabha, Hyderabad — taken as the reference city for Telangana — saw petrol climb from Rs 87.06 per litre in 2021 to Rs 107.46 now. Among major cities, only Kolkata recorded a similar hike. Across the country, Telangana ranks third in petrol prices, after Pune (Rs 109.74) and Jalandhar (Rs 107.48).
