Peak demand for power increases
Amidst scorching heat along with frequent scattered rainfall, the peak demand for power has gone beyond 26,000 megawatt this week.
With the increase in demand, as Uttar Pradesh reels under power cuts, the state government on Friday asked the UP Power Corporation Limited, divisional commissioners and district magistrates to ensure power supply to all categories of consumers as per the power supply schedule.
Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Mahesh Kumar Gupta said here on Friday that on May 23, the peak demand for power was 26,166 MW and the UPPCL had ensured supply to domestic, commercial and industrial category of consumers.
