ONGC blasts leave Puri villagers panicky
Panic struck the villages under Sadar block of Puri district following blasts by ONGC during the exploration for natural gas and oil for over a fortnight.
The villagers have complained that the earth is severely vibrating by the unknown explosions. They are afraid of their houses being damaged.
They said they were ignorant about the reasons of explosions of higher intensity in their areas. “We have been hearing explosion sounds for quite sometimes. But today we felt huge vibration of houses due to blasts in nearby paddy fields. We are ignorant about the cause of explosion,” said Bugu Mishra of Pratap Ramchandrapur.
Reacting over the development, IIC of Chananpur police station Yujhistira Nayak clarified that the explosion was due to exploration of oil and natural gases by the ONGC.
