NTPC arm looks to global bidding for nuclear-power expansion

NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Ltd, a subsidiary of India’s largest power generator NTPC Ltd, is looking to build atomic energy projects primarily through international competitive bidding to reach its goal of 30 GW capacity by 2047, which is around a third of India’s total target, Prasenjit Pal, executive director-nuclear at NTPC Ltd, told ET.

The technology in focus for NTPC’s own nuclear plans would be pressurised water reactors (PWRs), which is the most commonly available global technology, said Pal, who is also the chief executive of NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Ltd.
