No PUC, no fuel at pumps in city from October 25: Delhi govt
NEW DELHI: Vehicle owners in the city will have to produce a valid pollution under control (PUC) certificate to get fuel at filling stations from October 25.
Announcing this on Saturday, Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai said the transport department has been asked to issue a notification making a valid PUC certificate mandatory to get fuel at all city pumps from that date.
As the news spread, petrol pump owners and their staff expressed their apprehension that they would have a tough time dealing with customers and asked for civil defence volunteers and cops to be deployed for dealing with people who may insist on getting their tanks filled. There was a consensus that enforcing the ban was not their job.
