TDP State president and Energy Minister K. Kala Venkata Rao said power tariff would not be increased in the coming five years. In fact, the possibility of bringing the charges down would be explored while the annual subsidy burden on power being supplied to various sections free of cost hovered around Rs. 8,000 crore.
Addressing media persons at the Secretariat on Monday, Mr. Venkata Rao said the State was reeling under a deficit of 22 million units in 2014 and within four months of the TDP government formation, power started to be supplied round the clock due to the implementation of reforms, which few States could emulate in spite of being in a far better position.
