New Garia rail hub to take load off Sealdah

Kolkata: Eastern Railway (ER) is planning to upgrade its New Garia station as a transportation hub in the next two or three years.

DRM Sealdah Rajeev Saxena on Monday said: “Full-length loop lines will be constructed at the New Garia station with terminal facilities. Work will be completed in sync with the reopening of the Blue Line’s Kavi Subhash metro station. Additional services, as well as the extension of existing services to New Garia, with some originating from this station during peak hours, are also being planned.”
