Metro trains to ply between Porur and Kodambakkam power house in June

Chennai: Metro trains are expected to run between Porur and Kodambakkam Power House by June next year, six months after the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) begins commercial operations between Poonamallee and Porur on Corridor 4 of the Phase II project.

The 26.1-km Corridor 4, linking Poonamallee with Lighthouse, includes both elevated and underground stretches. Trial runs are underway between Poonamallee and Porur, while nearly 80% of the viaduct between Porur and Kodambakkam Power House has been completed, officials said. The agency recently finished casting the final U-girder for the 8-km stretch at its Voyalanallur casting yard.
