Metro to segregate Yellow Line, revive Tollygunge shed to ease Blue Line rush
Kolkata: In the wake of the mad rush on the Blue Line (Shahid Khudiram-Dakshineswar) and the chaos at stations and on trains even during non-peak hours, Metro Railway has decided to undertake a slew of measures, including segregating the Yellow Line (Noapara to Airport) from the Blue Line, re-operationalising the car shed at Tollygunge and placing of three rakes each at Tollygunge and Noapara before the start of day’s service.
The extraordinary situation on the Blue Line that has thrown train timings haywire has been precipitated by twin factors: the closure of the Kavi Subhash terminal station and unprecedented rush after the full Green Line was made commercially operational on Aug 22. The Green Line has an interchange with the Blue Line at Esplanade.
