Metro Corridor And Three Flyovers To Transform Transit In Chennai’s Western Suburbs By 2030

The 22-km metro corridor, with three grade separators of state highways and a multi-modal transit hub in Avadi will transform the way people from western suburbs commute to the city.

By 2030, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) will extend the metro rail corridor from Koyambedu to Pattabiram via Ambattur and Avadi making commuting to and from western suburbs such as Avadi and Pattabiram a breeze. The metro work will also be combined with the expansion of much-delayed Chennai-Tiruttani Highway (CTH). CMRL will also construct grade separators on the stretch. While the state has given the administration sanction, approval from the union govt is pending.
