Maharashtra becomes first state to participate in nuclear energy power generation initiative
Mumbai: Maharashtra took a major step towards clean and sustainable energy when Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Varsha, the official residence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, to generate electricity using nuclear energy.
Fadnavis on Monday said this was an important move by Maharashtra towards clean and sustainable energy and noted that the Central govt was taking steps to involve states in this sector. Fadnavis said the country was developing at a fast pace and that clean and reliable energy was the mainstay of development.
