Loco-running staff demand better work conditions

Chennai: In the wake of multiple train accidents across the country, the All-India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) has demanded a thorough review of the standard of safety in the railways and provide adequate rest and facilities, apart from streamling working hours for loco pilots.

The demands were raised during a seminar on work-rest imbalance of loco running staff and railway safety held in the city on Sunday. Retired high court Judge K Chandru inaugurated the conference.

Loco pilots highlighted that on introduction of Vande Bharat trains, section speed of various sections of the Railways have been upgraded to 120 to 130kmph.
