Mopeds were popular in India many decades ago, and they were so popular that they were even used to race. Some notable names were the TVS 50, Luna, and the Hero Puch. The Puch was so popular amongst performance enthusiasts as it had a manual gearbox, while TVS entered professional racing with the TVS 50, piloted by some popular names like Subhash Chandra Bose, or known amongst enthusiasts as ‘Bullet Bose’, reaching speeds of over 100kmph.
Fast forward to the current years and the mopeds were killed, apart from the TVS, which grew in displacement, and became modern, all the time while holding on to good sales numbers.
