Jet Airways grounds five more planes

Jet Airways has grounded five more aircraft on Wednesday on account of non-payment of dues to lenders.

The airline, on Tuesday, had informed of grounding four aircraft.

On Monday, BusinessLine had reported that in a letter written to Etihad, Naresh Goyal, the promoter and Chairman of Jet Airways, had urged his partner airline for urgent interim funding support of ₹750 crore. He wrote, “…as you are aware, Jet Airways is in a precarious position, with more than 50 aircraft grounded, and increasing arrears of vendors and salaries which makes the need for interim funding all the more imperative.”
