NEW DELHI: Jet informed the BSE on Tuesday that it has grounded four more aircraft “due to non-payment to lessors”, taking the number of planes taken out of operations due to payment woes to 32.
Apart from these, several other planes are not flying for want of repairs, spares and engines and dues to other vendors. In all, over 50 aircraft of the struggling airlines are grounded with a few being repossessed by lessors.
Last week, Jet chairman Naresh Goyal had written to Etihad Group seeking Rs 750 crore by this week and warned that any delay may result in the airline getting grounded. The Etihad board met in Abu Dhabi on Monday and is learnt to have had some reservations over pumping in more money in Jet.
