ISA identifies 3 barriers to global solar adoption
At the Fifth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance, being held in New Delhi, member countries are putting in place the key pieces that are necessary for wider adoption of solar energy. The International Solar Alliance (ISA) was set up at the Paris UN climate summit in 2015 as an organisation that is focused on implementation. Proposals for a payment guarantee mechanism, a system for improving capacity, and supporting the creation of an ecosystem that will build an economy around solar energy applications were taken up by the Assembly.
“We now have a fair understanding of what countries want, of course the needs vary from country to country but broadly we can put it into three main baskets: advocacy, capacity, and finance,” said Ajay Mathur, director general of the International Solar Alliance.
