IRCTC may soon allow you to change travel dates for confirmed tickets

Starting January, passengers can change the travel date of their confirmed train tickets online without any fee, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told NDTV.

“This system is unfair and not in the interest of passengers,” Vaishnaw told NDTV. He added that instructions have been issued to implement the changes.

What is the change?
Currently, passengers are not allowed to change journey date for online tickets. Passengers must cancel the existing ticket and book a new one for the desired date, with cancellation charges applied.
