NEW DELHI: IndiGo has doubled the frequency of its Delhi-Istanbul flight which it launches on March 20. The airline had opened bookings for this route, with return fares starting at Rs 24,000. Possibly given the response — as the only other airline with direct flight on this route is Turkish Airlines, a full-service carrier with significant fare difference — IndiGo will have a double daily on this route from March 25. Initially, Delhi-Istanbul was announced a daily flight.
IndiGo is looking at a number of neighbouring countries where no Indian low cost carrier flies to currently like mainland China, Russia and former Russian republics. It is also planning a one-stop Delhi-London by September. Asked why someone would prefer their single aisle with no hot food or inflight entertainment on a long journey like to the UK, a senior official had given three reasons: “Fares, fares, fares.”
