IndiGo saves life in Mumbai, carries heart from Vadodara in 2.5 hours
Low-cost airline IndiGo achieved a phenomenal feat on June 7 by successfully transporting a human heart from Vadodara to Mumbai in 2.5 hours. Procured directly from an operation theatre in Vadodara, the live donated organ was delivered to the Global Hospital in Mumbai.
The Gurgaon-based airline delivered the heart from the operation theatre to Global Hospital in two hours and twenty-two minutes, well within the 3-hour limit stipulated for live organ transfers. A team of doctors from the Global Hospital harvested the human heart in a Vadodara hospital, carrying the heart back to Mumbai to save a life successfully. Following the successful transplant, Senior GM at Global Hospitals, Anoop Lawrence, released an official statement thanking IndiGo’s airport Security Managers, Manoj Dalvi (Mumbai) and Ramchandra Dwivedi (Ahmedabad), for their assistance.
