IndiGo parent moves HC against double customs duty on reimported parts
New Delhi: InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of IndiGo airline, on Friday moved the Delhi High Court seeking refund of ₹900 crore of customs duty it paid on aircraft engines and parts that were reimported after sending them abroad for repair or service.
Imposing customs duty on such reimports is unconstitutional and amounts to double levy on the same goods, the company told a division bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Shail Jain. Justice Jain recused from hearing the matter as her son works with Indigo. The case will now be heard by another bench on December 19.
