IndiGo fiasco: Rs 55k for Hyderabad-Kolkata as fares soar; flights to New York cheaper

HYDERABAD: With large-scale flight cancellations by IndiGo for the fifth day on the trot that threw travel plans haywire for millions, air travel from Hyderabad to several Indian cities became more expensive on Saturday than flying to global destinations like New York, Chicago, London, Frankfurt or Melbourne.

The cheapest one-way fare for Sunday from Hyderabad to Guwahati and Kolkata touched Rs 45,000-Rs 55,000. In stark contrast, flights to international hubs such as New York and Chicago were available for under Rs 45,000.
