India sets eyes on 10% of global green hydrogen demand

New Delhi: India aims to capture nearly 10% of global green hydrogen demand that is expected to exceed 100 million metric tonnes by 2030, minister of state for power and new and renewable energy Shripad Naik said on Tuesday. Substantial progress has been made towards green hydrogen production targets with 862,000 tonnes per year of production capacity already awarded to 19 companies under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, Naik said at the FICCI Green Hydrogen Summit 2025.

The government has also awarded 3,000 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity to 15 companies.
