India-Russia energy ties: Nuclear cooperation to be deepened; Kudankulam, SMRs on December summit agenda

The upcoming 23rd India-Russia annual summit, scheduled for December, is expected to significantly advance bilateral cooperation in civil nuclear energy, with a special focus on small and modular reactors (SMRs) and greater localisation of nuclear plant equipment.

Ahead of the summit, Rosatom director general Alexei Likhachev met Ajit Kumar Mohanty, director general of the department of atomic energy (DAE), in Mumbai on Monday to discuss new areas of collaboration.
