India plans to tie airport charges with customer service standards

India plans to link airport tariffs charged by operators to service standards maintained by them in order to improve passenger experience, a government consultation paper reviewed by ET shows.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA), which regulates tariffs at major Indian airports, has proposed service quality benchmarks that would be embedded in the tariff regulation and monitored monthly.
