India eyes long-term oil deal with Angola as President Murmu pushes energy, minerals partnership

President Droupadi Murmu said on Sunday that Indian oil and gas companies are seeking a “long-term” purchase contract with Angola and are interested in investing in refining and the exploration of critical and rare earth minerals.

Opening her four-day state visit with talks at the Presidential Palace, Murmu said Angola plays a vital role in India’s energy security, as both countries exchanged several MoUs on fisheries, aquaculture and marine resources to strengthen bilateral ties.
