IGI To Up Capacity By 20% In 5 Years
New Delhi: The GMR-backed Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) will increase Indira Gandhi International Airport’s capacity by about 20% from the current 10.5 crore passengers annually to 12.5 CPA by 2029-30 without the existing terminal 2 making way for a bigger facility for now. This will be achieved by building pier E at T3 that will add 1-1.2 CPA, removing some bottlenecks at T1 and adding aircraft parking stands at T3, DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said on Wednesday.
“We are working on the master plan. Based on it, we will know in a month or so whether pier E that should be ready in two-three years will be domestic or international. We expect to exhaust our existing capacity in three-four years,” Jaipuriar said at an aviation conference in the city.
