Hyderabad cuts carbon footprint

HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad saved 238 million units of electricity, translating into Rs 193 crore in cost savings over one year, while also reducing 0.19 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to an energy efficiency report released by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

The savings were achieved through multiple interventions, including largescale LED street lighting, a cool roof pilot project at the University of Hyderabad, and other energy conservation initiatives.
