NEW DELHI: Shares of HPCLNSE -1.31 % were down over 2 per cent in Tuesday’s morning session after the Index Maintenance Sub-committee (IMSC) of NSE Indices decided to replace oil marketing company HPCL with Britannia IndustriesNSE 1.17 % on the flagship Nifty50. This change will become effective from March 29.
At 09:48 am, HPCL was trading 2.15 per cent lower at Rs 223.30 while Britannia Industries was 1.11 per cent up at Rs 3078.45 on BSE.
“The committee also made a few changes in indices such as Nifty Next 50, Nifty500, Nifty 100, Nifty Midcap 150, Nifty Smallcap 250, Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Midcap 100, among others. For the broader Nifty500 index, a total of 25 changes have been made. Recent listings such as Aavas Financiers, Fine Organic Industries, HDFC Asset Management Company, IndoStar Capital Finance and TCNS Clothing Co made it to the list,” ET reported.
