Highway slowdown: 574 NH projects miss deadlines; Rs 3.6 lakh crore stuck as land, clearances stall works

Highway expansion drive is facing execution stress, with 574 under-construction National Highway projects worth Rs 3.60 lakh crore running behind schedule, the government told Parliament on Wednesday, PTI reported.

Of the delayed projects awarded over the past five years, 300 are behind schedule by up to one year, 253 face delays of one to three years, while 21 projects have overshot timelines by more than three years, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
