H-Energy, a unit of realtor Hiranandani Group, has launched the country’s first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Jaigarh Port in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district, the company said in a statement.
The LNG terminal has a capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum and is slated to begin commercial operation by the fourth quarter of 2018.
The terminal will also be capable of reloading LNG into other vessels. The Jaigarh Port is owned and operated by JSW Infrastructure.
The terminal will supply gas to customers through a 60-km tie-in pipeline, which will be connected to national gas grids at Dabhol. State-run GAIL already operates an LNG terminal at Dabhol.
There are three more LNG terminals on the west coast, including two in Gujarat and one in Kerala.
