GST hike to nullify progress of last 8 years: LED makers

The increase in the GST rate on LED bulbs to 18% will nullify the efforts made by the government in the last eight years to replace incandescent bulbs, according to manufacturers.

LED lamp manufacturers including Bajaj, Havells NSE 0.87 % and Century said the rate hike would widen the gap between inefficient bulbs and LED lamps and slow down the transition.
