Govt should accept accountability, order JPC probe into Rafale deal: AK Antony

In the wake of the authorities in France initiating a judicial probe into allegations of corruption in the sale of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft to India, former Defence Minister A K Antony on Monday said the “intriguing silence” of the Narendra Modi government points towards “mal-intent” to hush up alleged corruption in the deal.

The senior Congress leader said the government should come forward and accept accountability, and order a free and fair Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the entire set of facts, evidence and allegations of corruption in the Rafale deal.

“French Public Prosecution Services has now appointed a Judge to investigate the corruption, influence paddling and brazen favouritism in the 36 aircraft Rafale deal,” Antony said in a statement.
