Shobha Karandlaje, MP, on Friday directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to ask Navayuga Company to complete the pending widening work of National Highway 66 from Hejmady to Kundapur in Udupi district.
Chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting here, Ms. Karandlaje said the construction of a flyover in Kundapur, a bridge at Padubidri, and service roads at some places were still pending in Udupi. The complete widening work was supposed to be completed three years ago, she said.
An NHAI officer said the widening work had been stopped because of financial problems in the company. Now, banks had agreed to finance it and the work will start in a week, he added. He said the company has promised to complete the work by the end of May.
