Funds, admin nod granted for 15.4kmMetro rail extension to Kilambakkam
Chennai: The proposed 15.46-km Chennai Airport-Kilambakkam Metro rail extension project moved a step closer to reality, as the govt has accorded administrative sanction and granted 1,964crore to carry out the preliminary work of land acquisition and shifting of utilities.
The corridor will be an extension of Phase I, which connects the airport to North Chennai via Chennai Central in blue and green lines. If the line is extended up to Kilambakkam, the entire city will be connected to Kilambakkam bus terminus.
