Chennai: An Air India Express flight from Chennai to Andaman returned without landing on Monday due to severe weather conditions at the respective destinations and was subsequently cancelled.
The flight to Andaman, carrying 174 passengers and six crew members, took off from Chennai Domestic Airport at 7.25 am but could not land at Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair because of heavy storms and strong ground winds. After circling for a long time, the aircraft was diverted back to Chennai, where it landed at 11.40 am.
