Ensure search engines show fares offered by you & not higher ones: Govt directs airlines

NEW DELHI: India’s aviation regulator has asked airlines to monitor fares offered on metasearch engines like Google to ensure that those sites do not show astronomical economy airfares as “this is causing confusion among public”.

Airlines have been directed to review their fares on third party platforms sites and in case of discrepancy like those sites showing higher fares than what is available on airline sites, get the same rectified.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued this directive to airlines on Monday after a senior IAS officer last week complained of India-UK one-way economy fares going as high as Rs 4 lakh.
