Electricity supply hit as floods damage poles, transformers
Hyderabad: With floodwaters inundating several 33 kV substations and uprooting hundreds of poles, power supply was disrupted in many villages under Telangana Southern and Northern Power Distribution Companies. Restoration efforts are underway across affected districts, including Medak and Kamareddy.
TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Musharraf Faruqui said floods damaged 1,357 poles and 280 transformers in southern discom areas. Medak district suffered the worst impact, with water entering substations and affecting 11 feeders of 33 kV, 175 feeders of 11 kV, 262 transformers, and 971 poles. Hundreds of kilometres of conductors and lines were also damaged.
