DGCA conducted highest ever in a year checks on airlines, airports & other stakeholders in 2022

NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) says it has carried out the highest ever number of surveillance actions in a calendar year in 2022, at 4,378 checks of which 3,013 were planned and 1,365 unplanned. These include safety audits, ramp inspections, spot checks and night surveillance conducted till Thursday (Dec 22) on airlines, airport operators, approved organisations, flying training schools to check whether they are following safety standards.

“We issued/renewed 17,220 flight crew licenses through the single window digital platform of eGCA. The number of commercial pilot licences (CPL) issued during the year has been the highest in the last decade at 1,131,” said a senior DGCA official.

The biggest “achievement” this year was the significant jump in International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) coordinated validation mission (or audit) of Indian DGCA that was conducted in November. “
