Despite DGCA instructions, airfares surge 100% ahead of Diwali

Hyderabad: Despite instructions from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to increase flight capacity and cap fares during the festive season, airfares skyrocketed by nearly 100% ahead of Diwali, leaving passengers frustrated.

Between Oct 17 and 18, just days before Diwali (Oct 21 and 22), ticket prices on several routes from Hyderabad to major cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Patna, Guwahati, Jaipur, and Chandigarh nearly doubled compared to regular fares.
