Delhi-Bengaluru metro fare disparity sparks outcry: BMRCL hikes up to 71% vs DMRC’s modest 7%; commuters fume

BENGALURU: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is facing renewed criticism over the steep fare hike it introduced in Feb, after Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) comparatively modest revision on Monday.

Delhi Metro, effective Monday, raised ticket prices by just Re 1 to Rs 4 — and up to Rs 5 for the Airport Express Line — an average increase of about 7%. In contrast, Namma Metro fares were raised by up to 71% earlier this year, making travel significantly costlier for daily commuters.
